People in Bath are being urged to put on their dancing shoes and take part in a jazz workout to support a former Bath Rugby player.
Carole Loughlin, from Keynsham, is marking her tenth year as a dance teacher by holding a three-hour sponsored jazzerthon.
The money she raises will help with the recovery of 24-year-old Lee Audis, who suffered serious head injuries in a car crash.
Lee, who is from Chippenham, was left with life-threatening injuries after his car came off the road in Doncaster – where he was playing for Doncaster Knights – in December 2011.
He spent more than a month in an induced coma at Leeds General Infirmary, before being moved to the rehabilitation unit at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol.
He was allowed home last December, after spending a year in hospital, and now needs intensive phsyio of the sort not available on the NHS.
Lee said: "It has been a slow process, but I am slowly getting there. I feel good in myself, and am getting my confidence back.
"I still need help using my hands, and walking, and struggle with my memory."
Mrs Loughlin, a friend of the family, has run Jazzercise Bristol and Bath for the last five years.
Mrs Loughlin said: "Lee is making great progress, but he still needs treatment that is not available on the NHS so needs to be paid for privately, which is expensive.
"When I heard how expensive the treatment was, I decided to talk to Lee and his parents to see if they would mind me doing the charity workout. It worked out perfectly as I wanted to hold an event to celebrate our fifth anniversary.
"And I'm also celebrating ten years as a jazzercise instructor so it really meant I could rally the troops and get everyone involved, even people that don't know Lee.
"We're hoping to raise as much money as possible so Lee can get lots of treatment to continue his recovery."
The event takes place at Bath Pavilion on Sunday, May 19, running from noon until 3pm.
There is a £15 registration fee.
