A public meeting next week will give people a chance to influence the choice of the next Bishop of Bath and Wells.
The diocese has organised the meeting in Wells next Monday as it starts the process of finding a replacement for the Rt Rev Peter Price, who retires in June.
The meeting at 7.30pm in Wells Town Hall will give people the chance to put forward their views and expectations of what they would like the next bishop to bring to the diocese.
The meeting will be chaired by Wells Cathedral Dean the Very Rev John Clarke, chair of the diocesan's Vacancy in See Committee, a 25-strong group which is laying the groundwork for the new appointment.
The Archbishops' Secretary for Appointments and the Prime Minister's Secretary for Appointments will be there to listen to the views put forward.
Archdeacon of Bath, Ven Andy Piggott, who sits on the Vacancy in See Committee, said:"The role of Bishop of Bath & Wells is one of great responsibility. The diocese serves over 900,000 people, many of whom live in Bath and the surrounding areas. We look forward to hearing what people in Bath would like to see in their future bishop. The evening will be not only a wonderful opportunity for people in Bath to contribute to the process of appointing their bishop, but also a chance to meet with other people from right across the diocese."
Mr Clarke said: "The open public meeting will be a wonderful opportunity for all concerned to express the hopes and expectations the diocese has of a future bishop. This process is designed in the hope that together with the guidance of the holy spirit, we can find the person that God has called to take on the demanding role of Bishop of Bath and Wells. All are welcome and we look forward to hearing your views."
The committee will meet again the following day to finalise a statement of needs and to elect six committee members to serve on the Crown Nomination Commission, which will meet in July and September to consider potential candidates.
