Bath's Jane Hutchison brought home a women's sabre silver medal from the recent British Veterans' Fencing Championships in Gloucester.
The format for the event, which is open to all fencers over the age of 40, is two rounds of poules in which groups of six fence each other, followed by direct elimination.
Six-times veterans champion Hutchison was seeded number two after the poules and then swept through the 18-strong field to reach the final after conceding only four hits.
However, the 55-year-old then came up against number one seed Beth Davidson and, despite fighting hard, went down 10-6 to her 43-year-old opponent.
