Weekend TV: Doctor Who and The X Factor

Well here we are, the weekend is almost upon us and what better way to say hello Saturday than settling in to watch your new primetime line up. or at least two thirds of it. Strictly Come Dancing doesn't fire up for another week so we'll have to convene next Sunday you lucky things.

Still, BBC 1 kicks us off at 7.30pm with the second instalment of Doctor Who which this week features the crowd pleasing Daleks. Fans of the show will know that they tend to pop up once or twice a year to gather the necessary ohh's and ahh's from longtime fans and new converts. They've turned up a little earlier this time around, probably because they knew the opening episode was going to be a three star at best. Still, Malcolm Tucker and Clara are back to fight evil again which looks to be far better than first episode by quite a way.

Cutting right through the middle of Doctor Who is The X Factoring, lumbering in at 8pm over on ITV. There's been a few shake ups this time around...I'm just kidding, it's same format. Simon Cowell is back, Cheryl's changed her name and the entry age is now 14 so they can snap up the next ultra marketable ultra bland Justin Bieber knock off. Tonight is the live auditions so there'll be plenty of wannabes to mock. Speaking of wannabes, Mel B is now on the panel for some reason. So there's that to enjoy...I suppose. See you next week for an autopsy of the above and the first episode of Strictly.
