Chris Walker-Hebborn continued his stunning summer of success by winning two gold medals and helping to set a new world record on day two of the European Swimming Championships in Berlin.
The double Commonwealth Games champion touched the wall first in the 100m backstroke final in 53.32secs, three-tenths of a second clear of France's Jeremy Stravius.
Walker-Hebborn then joined forces with British Gas NTC Bath team-mate Jemma Lowe, newly-crowned 100m breaststroke champion Adam Peaty and Fran Halsall to win the 4x100m mixed medley relay in a world record time of 3mins 44.02secs.
"I am so excited to win this," said Walker-Hebborn after his solo success. "After the Commonwealth Games there was no pressure on me, so I just wanted to go out there, enjoy it and see see what happened and I'm really pleased with the result."
Lizzie Simmonds fought back from sixth place at the halfway mark to win silver in the 200m backstroke, with Spain's Duane Da Rocha Marce touching 0.29 seconds ahead to secure the gold.
"I'm very pleased with the result, even if it was a tight finish," said Simmonds, who is also coached by Dave McNulty and Graeme Antwhistle in Bath.
"I used different tactics because I held back during the first 100m, and that paid off in the final sprint."
