Bath to honour MasterChef champion Ping Coombes

A special civic reception is to be held to honour Bath's MasterChef champion Ping Coombes. Chairman of Bath and North East Somerset Council, Councillor Martin Veal, is to host the event at the Guildhall later this month for all of Ping's friends and family. Ping, 33, won national fame when she was crowned BBC MasterChef champion 2014 by judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace after eight weeks of challenges. The full-time mother-of-one, from Fairfield Park, has said she now hopes to write a cookbook, hold cookery classes and supper clubs, or perhaps open a Malaysian cafe and cookery school in the city. In September Ping will be reunited with fellow finalists Luke and Jack at the pop-up MasterChef Restaurant and Bar in London where they will cook for a week.
