Gift marks loyal Bath Rugby supporter Jim Sims' 50th anniversary

Loyal Bath Rugby supporter Jim Sims' has clocked up an impressive 50 years of following his favourite club.

He bought his first season ticket as a 13-year-old and now at the age of 63 is still a regular face in the stands as he cheers on his side.

His record was marked by his bosses at the Moonshill Quarry in Stoke St Michael in Somerset who arranged for a special cake in the shape of a rugby ball and a signed rugby shirt to be presented to him by former Bath player, and current communications director, David Flatman.

Mr Sims, who lives in Frome, paid five shillings for his first season ticket and has bought a season ticket or a membership ticket ever season since.

He said: "I have been to thousands of games and although I don't go to every home game I try and get to nearly all of them."

In the early days Mr Sims used to take his dog with him and stand on railway sleepers on the sidelines to watch his team.
