TV preview: What to watch on Easter Sunday

Well Sunday is here and the air is thick "Corrr, glad I don't have to work tomorrow" jokes. Haha, we'll see how cocky you are in 24 hours when Tuesday is bearing down on you like an out of control combine harvester. Sunday is usually the day of rest but not in TV land where, and it prides me somewhat to say it, we're looking at a third straight run of decent TV. Tonight is really the night of the Sunday night blockbuster, even if it is in name only. We start on BBC 4 (don't look at me like that) where they're showing The Man in the White Suit. There's no two ways to say it, it's a classic Ealing comedy starring Alec Guinness. Like most of the Ealing comedies, The Man in the White Suit really stands the test of time comedically and dramatically. Moving over to Channel 4 at 9pm and it's time for the much hyped up Fargo TV show. Based on the Coen brother's 1996 Oscar winner, Martin Freeman stars as small-town Minnesota insurance salesman Lester Nygaard, who is set on a path of destruction after an encounter with manipulative drifter Lorne Malvo. Martin Freeman leads an all star cast including Bob Odenkirk and Billy Bob Thornton in this FX original series and, having seen the trailer, it looks just great. If you watch nothing else tonight, watch this. Right after this is another classic in the 1995 cop drama Heat. For the uninitiated, the plot centers around an armoured car hold-up which sets a veteran police detective on the trail of a highly intelligent career criminal, whom he is obsessed with capturing. Meanwhile, the robber is planning an elaborate bank heist as his final job before retiring, and a complex game of cat and mouse develops between the two. It's directed by Michael Mann and stars everyone from Al Pacino to Natalie Portman. So, three apparently is a magic number. Can Monday be as good? We shall see.
