Bath MP Don Foster has welcomed a week-long celebration of tourism.
English Tourism Week, run by the national tourist board, VisitEngland, aimed to shine a light on the importance of a sector worth £106 billion a year to England, supporting 2.6 million jobs.
Mr Foster attended a Tourism Alliance parliamentary reception held at the House of Commons along with Culture Secretary Maria Miller.
He said: "Tourism is a huge part of Bath's economy and it is important that we, as a Government, do all we can to support it. I was delighted to join VisitEngland for the Tourism Alliance parliamentary reception.
"Sometimes we forget just what a fantastic and beautiful country we're fortunate enough to live in. I urge people to make the most out of it and perhaps go visit somewhere you haven't yet."
VisitEngland chief executive James Berresford said: "Tourism is one of the few sectors active in every part of the country."
