PARENTS are being advised not to let their children wait outside Keynsham Leisure Centre to be collected from swimming lessons - after a stranger got into a waiting parent's car. The warning follows an incident outside the leisure centre at Temple Street last Thursday (January 30) where a man attempted to get into a parent's car while she was waiting to collect her children. The man became violent and police were called. The leisure centre is used by Keynsham Amateur Swimming Club (KASC) which runs lessons there. The club has now issued a warning to parents - on its website and via text message -asking them not to allow their children to wait outside to be picked up. The warning said: "On Thursday evening a strange man attempted to get into a parent's car as she was waiting to pick up her children from the swimming club. "He then became violent and the police were alerted. "Please could you make sure that all swimmers wait inside the leisure centre until collected by parents. A police spokesman said: "We received reports of a man pulling on the handle and banging on the door of a parked car in the High Street. "Police attended and carried out a search of the area but no one was found. "No crime has been recorded."
