Almost 400 people have applied to work at Keynsham's new supermarket. A new Waitrose store is due to open in the town in March replacing The Co-operative on Broadmead Lane. The high-end food store said it would keep the 84 staff at the shore but a further 100 positions are being created. Waitrose director of development, Nigel Keen, said 389 job applications had been received in just three weeks from local unemployed people and candidates put forward by Jobcentre Plus and council initiative resources. "We have had a phenomenal response and we are really encouraged by the calibre of applications we've received. We are grateful that so many people are eager to work for our business, and look forward to a successful future at the Keynsham store." Applications for the jobs are now closed.
