A pub in Bathampton that was flooded on Christmas Eve will remain closed until at the end of next month.
Heavy rain left the Bathampton Mill surrounded by several feet of water, filling the cellar and damaging equipment in the kitchens.
Sally Ellison, spokesman for owner Mitchells and Butlers said: "There has been extensive damage to the restaurant following the floods, we have begun repair work and we hope to re open later in February."
A number of families who had booked a meal on Christmas day were relocated to other restaurants.
However one family who visited for a meal together said their day was ruined when staff failed to tell them it had been flooded.
Lynn Bevan and her family had travelled from Bristol and the Epping Forest for a rare get together on Christmas day at the Bathampton Mill.
They were devastated when they arrived to find the car park flooded and the restaurant closed, and said they had been no attempt to contact them to let them know.
Money for the meal, at £70 per person had been paid in full, and the family have still not been refunded.
Mrs Bevan, from Yate, said: "It can only be described as horrendous, and inexcusable actions by the management which completely ruined Christmas day for ten people.
"Ten people from one family who had travelled as far as from Epping Forest on Christmas day to meet up for Christmas lunch at Bathampton Mill."
"There has been a total lack of professionalism and inexcusable slipshod service from Bathampton Mill management of the situation causing us all to have a completely ruined and a most disappointing and extremely stressful Christmas day."
The meal was organised and booked by Mrs Bevan's 80-year-old father.
It was a rare chance to get the whole family together, with Mrs Bevan's husband sister Jenni Allen, her husband Nick and two children coming and her son Mark and girlfriend Christina travelling from Epping Forest.
As each family member arrived dressed in their best clothes they were greeted by a flooded car park, and closed restaurant.
Mrs Bevan said: "The failure of the management to inform our party of the situation was not helped by the fact that there was not even a closed sign in the car park entrance informing customers of the situation.
"There was no alternative number for them to call, nothing written on the blackboard notice board outside in the car park entrance and not even a member of staff in the car park waiting for those guests to arrive to explain the situation.
"This left ten people in a very small area of the car park not flooded, dressed in clothes for a special occasion as it being Christmas day and expecting the lunch which had been ordered and prepaid for in full, not clothes for trekking around searching for another venue. "This was a highly stressful situation, and one of immense disappointment."
After frantically phoning around pubs and restaurants they managed to find get a table at The Tramshed, Beehive Yard, though by that Mrs Bevan's father had gone home.
Mrs Bevan said: "The disappointment, stress and anxiety that this caused everyone on the day is a lost rare family get-together and is something which has been lost forever."
Ms Ellison said: "Unfortunately our bookings folder was destroyed in the flooding which contained all our guests contact details.
"Our manager and the team worked hard to contact every guest that had made bookings with us and we are very sorry we were unable to contact this.
"We did have an email address but this was incorrect and we had no other means of contacting them.
"We hope the family accept our sincere apologies, we've now been contacted by them direct and we will be refunding their deposit and obviously compensate them for missing their Christmas meal with us.
