Failed Bath firm AudioGo owes £16.8 million to creditors.
The figure has been revealed in documents released by joint administrators for the troubled firm.
AudioGo, which had employed more than 100 people, went into administration last autumn.
Mark Shaw and Antony Nygate of business advisory practice BDO were appointed administrators.
The company formerly traded as BBC Audiobooks, a division of BBC Worldwide. Following a buyout of the firm in 2010 BBC Worldwide remained a shareholder.
AudioGo had an extensive collection of audio books and large prints including Dr Who and novels by P D James and Bill Bryson.
The report from BDO said the financial problems were first noticed at the firm last summer and despite efforts to sell it as a going concern interested parties were put off because of a lack of clarity in financial information.
AudioGo's library stock has been sold off in sections for £269,000 to help satisfy creditors.
