Bath-based band members of The Family Rain have made a permanent tribute to their childhood home in their new music video, and say they are 'immensely' proud of where they come from.
The three brothers, twins Tim and Ollie, 24, and older brother William, 26, still share a bedroom in the house they grew up in, although they have little time there since they were signed by Vertigo Records a year ago.
They made the decision to shoot the video of themselves running through the streets they grew up in for their song Trust Me I'm a Genius and say they hope it will be seen all over the world when their first album, Under the Volcano, is released in early February.
"We are immensely proud of where we are from," Tim said. "Having been to a lot of places over the last year or so, Europe included, every time we come back we appreciate the calmness and the absolute beauty of the city.
"When we were doing the video we wanted to go really high so you can see our house, and the house where our grandparents used to live, and lots of our friends' houses – it's where we learned to ride our bikes and do everything else kids do.
"For us it's a really nice documentation of where we are from. These videos that go online will be seen all over the world, and for them to see the colour of our city and what it looks like is just a really nice thing."
The brothers' parents Phil and Jane grew up in the Southdown and Twerton areas and the boys attended Beechen Cliff School, where Tim says they formed many bands, most of which were kept secret at the time.
The self-taught musicians then spent several years working locally as window dressers and for local businesses before forming the band two years ago.
Because of their hectic lifestyles now there are no plans for them to move from the house they share with their parents in Southdown.
"Eventually it would be nice to move out and get a bit of our own space but we spend so little time in our home town, having been out on the road, when we do get back we're really glad to be here with mum's home cooking," said Tim.
"Our parents are just absolutely stoked that we are finally doing something that we want to be doing. The general theme with them was that as long as we try our hardest at whatever we choose to do they'll be happy."
Under the Volcano has been selected as one of NME'S 'albums to look forward to' in 2014. The Guardian has dubbed the band the "west country's answer to the Kings of Leon" and they have just finished a UK tour which saw them supporting the Rolling Stones and included a gig at comedy club Komedia in Bath. This is not the first time Bath has been the location of choice for a music video.
The Rhubarbs, a Bath based rock band, have filmed several of their videos in the city centre.
Regular performers at clubs and pubs in the City, they were the winner of Bath nightclub Moles' music competition.
The video for their song "Short Skirts, Short Change" starts at Bath train station and shows the band journeying around different parts of the City including the Abbey courtyard and police station.
