Former Paulton Rovers striker Ashley Barnes believes he can achieve his aim of playing in the Barclays Premier League after signing for Burnley this week.
The 24-year-old from Dunkerton made his Clarets debut as a second-half substitute during yesterday's 2-1 win at Yeovil Town, which maintained Burnley's grip on second place in the Championship.
And Barnes, who joined from Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday for an initial fee of £750,000, believes his new club could still be in the promotion places at the end of the season.
"This group of lads can be in the Premier League and I want to help get them there," said the former Writhlington School pupil, who played youth football with Bath Arsenal and represented Paulton from 2005-2007.
"That's why I chose Burnley and I wouldn't be here if I didn't believe we could do it.
"Everyone wants to get there but I see this as a big chance and I want to help get them over the line.
"The move has been on the cards since last summer and I am just glad it's gone through and I can start a new chapter in my career.
"I had a fantastic time at Brighton and hopefully played my part in getting them where they are today but it's a fresh start now and what really secured it is I want to be in the Premier League."
