Curo and Buro Happold getting Bath workers on their bikes

The Royal United Hospital, social housing landlord Curo and engineering firm Buro Happold have been given recognition for the way in which they are encouraging staff to use greener forms of transport.

The annual Travelwest Sustainable Business Travel Awards were hosted by B&NES Council, with Curo and Buro Happold investing in extra facilities to encourage more staff to cycle to work.

Lower Bristol Road firm Buro Happold was rated most cycle-friendly employer in the West, after a 50 per cent increase in cycling among staff.

Those attending also heard from the RUH, pictured, about how it is dealing with balancing parking challenges for patients and staff, while Dr Ian Walker, from the University of Bath, talked about new walking route initiatives for the city.

The council said it was delighted to help showcase employers' work.
