A group of fundraisers have completed a 104-mile hike in just five days to support Bath homelessness charity Julian House.

The Cotswold Way National Trail can be completed in seven days, but the team, who raised £2,500, were so quick they knocked two days off the target.

Event organiser Cathy Adcock greeted the walkers at Bath Abbey on Saturday to mark the end of their challenge.

She said: "They are an amazing group and even though they suffered from terrible blisters, sore soles, bites and very aching muscles they arrived in Bath smiling and very chatty about their whole experience.

"It certainly helped that they had perfect walking weather throughout the five days and they really helped each other in times of discomfort."

The fundraising walk has been running since 2008 and all sponsorship goes towards supporting homeless people in Bath.

Participant Dan Brown was walking the route for the second time, having also completed it in 2010.

He said: "It is such a beautiful route and Julian House is a very worthwhile charity.

"The sense of achievement was shared by all of us.

"It is not easy walking 20 miles in a day, and then doing it again, and again, again, and again.

"We all stuck together as a team, supported each other and shared an experience that will last a lifetime."

The other walkers in the team were Sam Hedley, Ali Terras, Teresa Mortimer, Claire Hedley and Peter Norman.
