More than 670 women have already signed up to this year's Dorothy House Midnight Walk.
But so far, none of them will be travelling as far as Lisa Mitchell.
Lisa, who grew up in Colerne, will be travelling from her house in Northampton with a group of friends to take part.
She has a special reason for getting involved, as a rare genetic disorder has seen her lose a number of family members to cancer.
Lisa's family is affected by Li-Fraumeni syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that makes sufferers 25 times more likely to develop cancer than the average person.
She is clear of the gene but has lost several close family members, including her brother Marcus, who died at Dorothy House in December 2006, aged 33, and her mum Maureen Burgess who died at home on Christmas Eve 1994 aged 42.
Lisa said: "Dorothy House gave a lot of support to the whole family, and I decided to do the Midnight Walk as a way of giving something back."
A group of old friends from Colerne had signed up to do the walk, including Sharon Shackleford who will be celebrating her 40th birthday on the night.
They asked if Lisa wanted to join them, so she will be coming down to Bath in September with her friends, Anna Rice and Seretta Flynn.
"I've been training for ten weeks – doing power walking, which has really increased my fitness. I'm also doing quite well with raising sponsorship. I hope our group will be able to raise a really good total for the hospice. – they do such a wonderful job in the local community."
