Guildhall Hub bids to bring Bath's creative minds together

It was once a technical school and, more recently, home to civil servants, but office space in the heart of Bath has been transformed to allow the city's creative minds to collaborate.

Some £500,000 has been spent on Bath's new co-working hub at the Guildhall, creating the right environment for members of the creative and technology sectors to flourish.

The new work space will enable people to not only develop their own projects but also encourage networking and allow businesses to establish new partnerships.

Tom Lewis, from marketing consultancy Firstexact, has been appointed hub operator and will work alongside hub manager Tatjana Humphries, but because the hub is being run as a not for profit community interest company the pair will be answerable to a board of trustees.

Mr Lewis said: "What we are trying to do is build a physical manifestation of the creative and tech sector in the city.

"They currently exist in the coffee shops or working on their own from home but this will help bring these creatives together and enable them to grow their businesses.

"It's exciting to see what is going to happen."

Mr Lewis added: "The Guild co-working hub is an idea that I have had for many years and to see it starting to take shape with its first members on board is particularly gratifying. I have been overwhelmed with the kindness of the Bath business community.

With more than 3,500 square feet, the hub offers a range of co-working facilities.
