Very short engagement before couple celebrate winning a dream day

A couple have won a £10,000 wedding day – before even officially getting engaged.

Cheryl Chilcott and Stuart Dilloway, from Melksham, are the lucky winners of this year's Bath Chronicle Win a Wedding competition.

The couple, who have been together almost five years, said they entered the competition at the last minute and never expected to win.

Miss Chilcott, 28, who works for Bath-based financial services company Ascentric, said: "The closing date was the Monday and on the Sunday we woke up and the paper was on the side ready to go out for recycling.

"Stuart went out into the garden with the paper and came back in saying we should enter. I said to him 'you haven't even asked me yet, I might say no'."

The pair met more than six years ago when they were both working for Halifax.

Miss Chilcott said they had discussed getting married but admitted she was still waiting for 26-year-old Mr Dilloway, who works for the Ministry of Defence and plays for Avon RFC, to get down on one knee or give her an engagement ring.

She said: "We always planned to have children first and thought getting married could wait.

"We couldn't afford to buy a house and get married.

"It's surreal still at the moment, we can't believe we've won. It will be a fantastic day."

The couple have won a wedding day package at The Manor House Hotel and Golf Club in Castle Combe.

The prize also includes a wedding cake by Baby Cakes, a dress from Krystle Brides, cars from Ken Kars, hair by Saints Hair Boutique, make-up by Sarah Brock, photography from Portraits by Claire, a wedding DVD from yourweddinginhd.co.uk, rings by Jody Cory Goldsmiths and an evening disco from Entertainment Direct UK.

A spokesman for the Manor House Hotel and Golf Club, said: "Once again it has been a pleasure to work with the Bath Chronicle in helping one couple's dream come true.

"Cheryl and Stuart make such a fantastic couple and we can't wait to host their special day.

"We are sure they will enjoy many happy years together."
