New 20mph zones could be declared in Bathampton, Batheaston, Bathford, and Bathwick.
The areas are the latest to be looked at by Bath and North East Somerset Council as it rolls out a £500,000 safety programme.
The council is suggesting that the west end of Batheaston High Street, the lower part of Bannerdown Road and the western end of Bathampton Lane should be subject to the lower limit.
The whole of the Bathwick estate - bordered by Bathwick Street, Beckford Road, the railway and the river - would also be included, along with Bathford Hill and High Street.
There are already 20mph zones elsewhere in Bathampton and Batheaston.
Local people are being given the chance to have their say about the idea in a consultation that runs until April 12. A leaflet for households in the proposed restriction areas will be distributed shortly.
The council has created a new 20mph zone in Twerton and Southdown and is about to launch more in Peasedown St John, Newbridge, Oldfield Park and Keynsham.
Cabinet member for transport Councillor Roger Symonds (Lib Dem, Combe Down) said: "Excellent progress is being made by the council on consulting with communities on our proposals for 20mph schemes. People in Bathampton, Batheaston, and Bathford, as well as Beckford Gardens now get their chance to have their say.
"The proposals would make the streets safer for people on foot and on bicycles, making those communities a more pleasant place to live."
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents estimates that a pedestrian has a 90 per cent chance of surviving being hit by a car at 20mph, but only a 50 per cent one at 30mph.
