A father is cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats in memory of his teenage son who died suddenly in 2009.
Dave Boulton, of Saltford, is training hard for the gruelling 13-day ride, which will raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
He is taking on the challenge in memory of his son Jack, who died aged 17.
Jack, a fit and sporty pupil at Wellsway School collapsed and died during a football training session.
Mr Boulton will be joined on the ride, which starts on June 29, by his colleagues from Bristol insurance company Unum.
He said: "This is the biggest challenge any of us have done, and we are training hard for it. Many of us cycle to work, and we are trying to do as much training as we can in our spare time. This is a personal challenge for ourselves as well as raising as much money as we can for CRY in Jack's name."
The group hopes to raise more than £10,000 for CRY, and so far has collected £4,300.
Every week 12 seemingly fit and healthy young people under the age of 35 die from an undiagnosed heart condition.
CRY's screening programme now tests more than 12,000 young people across the UK every year, and one in every 300 of them will be identified with a potentially life-threatening condition.
CRY founder and chief executive Alison Cox said: "It takes enormous courage for a family who has been affected by young sudden cardiac death to be able to see beyond their own tragedy and want to raise funds for CRY to help save another life and prevent another family having to suffer in the way they have. I find it very humbling."
Mr Boulton has already raised more than £40,000 for the charity in Jack's memory and this year will also organise an auction evening, cricket match, quiz and benefit gig.
