Thief steals van full of drugs making delivery to Bath hospital

A seemingly opportunist thief made off with a van full of medical drugs which had been making a delivery to a Bath hospital. The man jumped into the Mercedes Sprinter van when the driver was dropping off supplies at the BMI Bath Clinic, in Claverton Down Road, at around 9am this morning. The alarm was quickly raised, with the police helicopter used to search the local area. Officers discovered the vehicle a short time later abandoned near the Bath Cats and Dogs Home, in The Avenue. None of the drugs had been stolen, but some of the driver's personal items, including a wallet, had gone. The man is described as white, in his late 30s and wearing a beige waist-length jacket and a light-coloured bobble hat. Anyone with information is asked to contact Bath police on 101.
