Bath partnership teaches the business of success

Budding entrepreneurs are to benefit from business start-up training which will allow their ideas to turn into reality. City of Bath College has teamed up with Curo Group to open a new city centre venue in a bid to inspire and accelerate the next generation of enterprise. The unique partnership will see the ground floor of Rosewell Court, next to Kingsmead Square, being used by classes of up to 15 adults learning the know-how to turn their passions into profitable businesses. Learners will be able to work towards a BTEC level 2 First Steps to Enterprise qualification or pick and mix from ten modules aimed at different stages of setting up, running and growing businesses. Unused office space with business services will then be rented out to the entrepreneurs with at least five enterprise stations on offer. The aim is to unleash a wave of dynamic, creative and innovative entrepreneurs keen to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Lord Alan Sugar and James Dyson. Director of development at City of Bath College, Rob Sibley, said the pioneering Start Your Own Business course will enable people to help themselves to create jobs rather than waiting to find them. He said: "We are very, very excited about this as there is not this level of help available anywhere else in the area. "We are going to be there to support people every step of the way with Rosewell Court being the ideal premises to operate out of. "There will be a training room, a networking area and enterprise stations for new businesses. "People often lack the skills and confidence to get their businesses started but we are encouraging everyone to turn their passions into profit." The cost of course modules start at just £60, but the course could be free for Curo tenants and those aged 19-23 who do not already have a full level two qualification.
