Young and old gave up part of their Saturday to help plant trees at Bath City Farm.
The event saw families get together in the fresh air to plant trees supplied by Waitrose in the sheep field.
The project was designed to provide shelter for the animals in harsh weather.
Richard Stoke, from Weston, helped to plant a tree with his son Ryan, nine.
He said: "We just came along to the farm to see the animals. I had no idea this was on. It seemed a lovely idea, so we decided to help. It will be nice to say we helped to plant that tree."
Everyone who helped was given tools and tuition on how to use them. Their hard work was rewarded with soup and hot drinks.
Trees supplied by Waitrose as part of John Lewis's 75th anniversary were also planted at St Stephen's Primary School.
