Lee Howells has defended his management style, saying he is working tirelessly to turn Bath City's on-pitch fortunes around.
The head coach was accused of "not caring" by some supporters at last week's fans' forum, who felt that his low-key approach during games betrayed a lack of passion.
Howells was visibly upset by the claim and said his approach was no different to how it had been when he helped City gain promotion to the Blue Square Bet Premier as Adie Britton's assistant in 2010.
"For a manager just to bawl and shout for the sake of it, I don't think that helps," said Howells, who took over first-team affairs from Britton in October.
"My manager when I was a player at Cheltenham was Steve Cotterill. He loved to shout at us on the pitch but most of the time we just ignored him. I knew what he wanted me to do anyway.
"We train on Tuesdays and Thursdays, then have 90 minutes before each game to prepare. The players know what we want from them, so why bully them and shout at them during the game?
"Some managers will do that, some managers will be nice and calm, others will pass on instructions to the full-back - everyone is different."
Howells also denied he is merely Britton's "puppet", although the director of football did confirm he made suggestions about substitutions during matches.
Britton has also taken over media duties from Howells, who did not speak to the press following Saturday's dismal 1-0 defeat to Staines Town or last night's superb success at Farnborough.
Howells, who runs the City Barbers shop in central Bristol, said his commitment to Bath City could not be called into question.
"I go to work at 7 in the morning, I leave at 6 in the evening, then I come here and finish at 10," he said at the forum.
"I get home and eat whatever my wife has left me, then go to bed. At 10.30 the other night, I was watching a DVD of two Academy teams that Gary Owers had sent me, to check on a couple of lads who had been released.
"Even when I'm at work, I'm thinking about Bath City and what we could do better. You tell me what else you want me to do."
Howells is hoping his side will continue the good away form, which has seen them take seven points from nine on their travels, when they head to high-flying Boreham Wood on Saturday (3pm).
City will then be looking for their first home win since November 13 when they entertain Dorchester Town on Tuesday (7.45pm).
