Great Scott is latest winner of Jack Boulton Award

"Model sportsman" Scott Tweedie has become the latest recipient of the prestigious Jack Boulton Award. The trophy is presented by the Keynsham & Saltford Sports Network each year in memory of Jack, who collapsed and died at the age of just 17 while training with Saltford FC in 2009. Jack was a multi-talented sportsman, also excelling in cricket and golf, and those qualities have been recognised in Scott, who plays for Keynsham CC, Fry's Hockey Club and Keynsham RFC. The Wellsway School sixth-former captained the junior side at the cricket club, where he also helps out with coaching. Junior chairman Andy Rood said: "Scott is a model sportsman in terms of ability, attitude and approach." He also received praised from Fry's hockey coach Andy Rhys Jones, who added: "Scott was selected for the Avon under-17 squad due to his abilities, his coachability and his hard work." Scott was nominated by Nigel Kay and received the trophy from Jack's parents, June and Dave, at last Friday's presentation evening. The other nominees for this year's award were Tommy Pearce of Keynsham Town FC, Millie Warren of Keynsham Swimming Club, Tom Scott of Keynsham RFC and Mollie Robbins of Fry's Netball Club.
