An Italian restaurant will be putting raising Bath's profile on TV this spring.
Martini Restaurant, in George Street, will be featured in the next series of the BBC2 programme Food and Drink.
Food critic Matthew Fort visited the restaurant in November to film the episode, which will focus on Italian cuisine, how it is cooked in different countries and how it has changed over the years.
Head chef and co-owner Luigi Lilo said the interest from the BBC "came out of the blue."
He added: "It's about if I cook something in Italy, I wouldn't present it the same way in here.
"Matthew didn't want to use a chain, he wanted us. We had nine hours filming and it took so many takes to do one thing."
Mr Lilo, who bought Martini along with partners Nunzio Mola and Franco Pidala back in 2000, said the arrival of chains such as Jamie's Italian, Carluccio's and Brasserie Blanc had intensified competition in the city.
He said: "We keep managing to get local business which is very important to us - that is our priority, that is what we want the locals.
"Ten years ago there were no big chains and we were on top of a wave but now we are more in the middle but we're in it and that's the main thing."
The episode of Food and Drink featuring Martini will be broadcast on March 4 at 8.30pm.
Meanwhile, a Turkish restaurant in Bath has been named the best kebab establishment outside London.
Marmaris, in Grand Parade, took the accolade at the inaugural British Kebab and Retail Awards held in London earlier this month.
Marmaris owner Ramazan Kolcak, who has run his restaurant for 23 years, said: "It was good for me and good for Bath to be named the best outside of London."
