The head of Bath's tourism body has praised the generosity of visitors to last year's Christmas Market which raised over £6,000 for charity.
Chief Executive of Bath Tourism Plus, Nick Brooks-Sykes said: "Although 2012 was economically difficult for many people, they still give generously to charities at our event – I think it is the Christmas spirit it evokes in people."
A free stall at the Christmas Market was shared by 16 local charities, including MacMillan Cancer Support, Bath Mind and Bath City Farm.
Market organisers Bath Tourism Plus said more than £1,300 was raised at the stall on one day alone.
Buskers and entertainers also donated their earnings to charity to boost the fundraising total.
Bath Christmas Market, which has been an annual event since 2000, attracted 350,000 visitors during the 18 days it was open last year.
