Combe Down RFC under-16s are looking forward to learning from the best after winning a training session with Bath Rugby. The opportunity comes just over four years since Combe Down launched their own mini and junior rugby sides, which have been such a success that the club now has 150 registered youth players. That rapid growth, along with the 'enthusiasm and desire' to learn from professional coaches and players, impressed the judging panel for the 2013 QBE Rugby Pro competition. "We are really thrilled to win this fantastic prize," said Combe Down coach Giles White, whose club will also receive £1,000 worth of training kit. "In the last three years, we have registered more than 100 new mini and junior rugby players and this is a great reward for the hard work that has made that happen. "Training with professionals from Bath Rugby will undoubtedly benefit our players and coaches, and the equipment will be incredibly useful to meet the needs of our fast-growing community club." Combe Down are one of just 12 amateur clubs nationwide to win a training session with their local Aviva Premiership team, courtesy of the league's official business insurance partner. Chris Bevan, commercial manger of QBE's Bristol operation, said: "We are delighted that Combe Down RFC has won – their entry was a great example of how sport helps inspire the community. "We hope that the contribution of a specialist training session and new equipment from QBE will help the club to develop and introduce more people to the game."
