Weather: Expect a wet and windy start to this week

The Met Office has issued the following forecast for Bath and South West England for the next few days.

Today:

There will often be large amounts of cloud today, but there will also be sunny spells at times, especially in the morning. It will be breezy, a little less warm than yesterday, and a few showers are likely as well. Maximum temperature 16C.

Tonight:

Winds will strengthen overnight, as outbreaks of locally heavy rain spread eastwards across the region during the early hours. Gales will develop across coasts and hills. Mild. Minimum temperature 9C.

Tuesday:

A wet and very windy start. Rain will quickly clear eastwards in the morning, to leave a noticeably cooler, but bright and windy day. Gales will affect exposed parts. Maximum temperature 12C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Lighter winds on Wednesday and becoming milder, with some patchy rain. Then rather cloudy on Thursday and Friday with outbreaks of rain at times, perhaps locally heavy on Friday.
