Bath City's Blue Square Bet South match at Farnborough has been called off after the pitch failed a 4pm inspection. The Cherrywood Road pitch is already under three inches of snow and more wintry weather is expected throughout the day. Farnborough chief executive Steve Duly said prior to the cancellation: "We did manage to clear the pitch for the Clevedon game three seasons ago but that took, on average, 20 people and four days solid to achieve. "I have been in discussions with groundsman Peter Howard all morning and the snow is forecast to continue for the remainder of the day. We have already seen three inches come down in about four hours and we feel that any snow we did manage to clear would be replenished as soon as it was moved. "We also have to be mindful that the pitch surface was reasonably soft this morning and lessons learnt from the Clevedon experience a few years ago was that significant damage was caused to the surface with the removal of the snow. "This, coupled with spectator safety considerations and Bath City's travelling logistics, leads to an early inspection being the most sensible approach." A new date for the game has yet to be decided. It is the fifth Saturday in six weeks that City have been without a game.
