The most famous play in the world, Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap, comes to the Theatre Royal Bath for the first time from Monday as part of the legendary, hit thriller's first major UK tour.
In her own inimitable style, Dame Agatha Christie has created an atmosphere of shuddering suspense and a brilliantly intricate plot where murder lurks around every corner. Quite simply a great piece of theatrical history, this whodunit written by the greatest crime writer of all time holds numerous Guinness World Records including 'the longest continuous run of any show in the world'.
Tickets for the show have almost sold out despite an extra matinee having been introduced to try and keep pace with demand. But as always standby tickets are available for each day during the actual week of the show. The scene is set when a group of people gathered in a country house cut off by the snow discover, to their horror, that there is a murderer in their midst. Who can it be? One by one the suspicious characters reveal their past secrets until at the last, nerve-shredding moment the murderer and the motive are finally revealed. The Mousetrap is currently celebrating its astonishing 60th anniversary in the West End, where this extraordinary classic has famously run at London's St Martin's Theatre for the past 38 years, more than half of its record-breaking run. The play is also known for its twist ending, which the audience are traditionally asked not to reveal after leaving the theatre. The cast for the UK tour of The Mousetrap features Karl Howman as Mr Paravicini.
