The body of a woman has been found at an address in Melksham this morning.
Wiltshire Police are searching for 51-year-old Richard Gordon Newton from the Bowerhill area of Melksham who they want to question about the find.
Officers believe that Mr Newton might hold vital information and may be able to assist police with their enquiries.
It is thought that Mr Newton was driving a blue Volkswagen Polo registration number S487 CKN this morning from his home address in Melksham to the Williton area of Somerset.
Avon and Somerset police officers located this vehicle unattended at Brendon Common, Exmoor shortly before 12.30pm this afternoon.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Mr Newton or who may have any information on this incident is asked to call Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
