Campaigners determined to stop heavy lorries driving over Bradford on Avon's historic bridge have helped secure 14 more prosecutions.

Through Lorry Watch, volunteers working with Wiltshire council and the town council monitor vehicles infringing the weight limit on the bridge.

As part of the latest prosecutions at Swindon Magistrates Court, 14 companies and drivers have been fined more than £10,000.

Keith Humphries, cabinet member for public protection, said: "I want to thank all those involved in Lorry Watch for their commitment day in day out to make this an effective campaign.

"This is a clear example of a community working together with the council to solve a local problem and the message is getting out there- if you ignore the signs you are going to get caught."
