Scott Sinclair is hoping he will not have to follow fellow England youngster Jack Rodwell out of Manchester City if he wants to play regular Premier League football.
The Bath-born 25-year-old has made just three starts since moving to the Etihad from Swansea City for £8million in 2012 and spent last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion.
He has featured in several pre-season matches for City this summer and came on for the last five minutes of Sunday's 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the FA Community Shield at Wembley.
And Sinclair told talkSPORT: "I got a lot of game time in pre-season which has been great, that's what I want. I've been playing 90 minutes and scored a few goals as well.
"If the manager is going to give me game time, then I would love to stay but if that's not the case I'm sure I'll have to go elsewhere and to play more.
"I'm just taking every game as it comes. I've played a lot in pre-season so hopefully that continues."
Rodwell, who joined City from Everton in the same transfer window as Sinclair, has left to join Sunderland after being sidelined by boss Manuel Pellegrini.
He has since warned young English players to think twice about moving to City due to a lack of game time.
