A four year old boy outshone even Father Christmas at the Oldfield Park festive lights switch-on. Seb White had a beaming smile as he helped Santa to flick the switch, illuminating Moorland Road. Despite the heavy rain many families had still turned out for the event, well prepared with umbrella and wellington boots. Seb, who has Down's Syndrome, shot to fame this year after being chosen to appear in a Marks & Spencer catalogue. He has also done some modelling work with national children's clothing brand JoJo Maman Bébé and is appearing in M&S Christmas advertising. His mother Caroline said he had really enjoyed the day: "He has loved it all, and enjoyed being the centre of attention. "I think his favourite part was riding in the car with Father Christmas, and helping him. "We have lived here for five years, and always come to watch the lights switched on, so it is such an honour that Seb was chosen to do it this year. "I am very proud of him." The lights, which are paid for by Moorland Road traders, include 40 artificial Christmas trees and 20 sets of rope display lights. After the switch on Father Christmas met local children, and handed out goodie bags. There was also a raffle. Maureen Brown, from Oldfield Park, attended with her granddaughter Maddie, six. She said: "Even though it is raining we still decided to come, as Maddie was so excited to see Father Christmas. "The lights look lovely, and I think it is so lovely that this event is organised, the children really love it." Dillan Hooper, aged seven, said: "I got a present from Father Christmas, and he said he liked my wellies, they have dinosaurs on. "The lights are pretty too."
