Severe weather warnings issued as more heavy rain hits Bath

Bath is being warned to expect persistent rain for the next two days. The Met Office has issued severe weather warnings which will be in place until Sunday night, including today's amber alert for many parts of the South West. Rain has been falling steadily across the city today and, in addition to the downpours, there is also the risk of gusts of up to 60mph in exposed areas. Showers are expected to turn heavy at times, particularly this evening. With ground already saturated following this week's rain, residents are being warned to be prepared for the possibility of surface water and further flooding. At midday today, the Environment Agency had more than 50 flood warnings and alerts in place across the South West. For the very latest information, view the panel below. Two bands of persistent rain will hit the region tomorrow, prompting the Met Office to issue a yellow warning for severe weather. The first is forecast to hit in the early morning, but is expected to clear by 10am. After a brief dry spell, another band of persistent and heavy rain will sweep over Bath on Sunday afternoon and evening. Click here for the latest Bath weather forecast.
