Ashley Kington reckons the triumvirate of players who upped sticks from Weston-super-Mare this summer can all make a big impact at Bath City.

Kington, Martin Slocombe and Chas Hemmings all quit the Seagulls to head to pastures new at Twerton Park, treading the same path as Ross Stearn 12 months ago.

"Ross had no influence," joked midfielder Kington.

"It was the ambition of the club really. They want to go forward and I knew they had a good squad already, so with a few additions hopefully we've strengthened and we can push on.

"I'll try and contribute as much as I can. That might mean me scoring a few goals. I scored a few last season for Weston so hopefully I can do the same this year."

Kington, who slotted home a penalty in Weston's win over City in February, helped City cap their pre-season programme with victory over Yate last Saturday.

And he now wants to transfer that strong summer showing into a lightning start in the league.

"It was really good to get the win and I needed to get 90 minutes under my belt to get ready for this weekend," said Kington.

"I feel I'm ready now. I came back a little bit late for pre-season but I feel like I've caught up now.

"We'll definitely aim to get in the play-offs. It's got to be our ambition and I think we can achieve that.

"We'll see where we are come Christmas time and if we're in with a shout then we can push on and try to win the league."
