Danny Talbot says he is waiting for "one race where it all clicks" as he looks to build on his seventh-placed finish in Thursday's 200m final at the Commonwealth Games.

The 23-year-old from Box, coached by Dan Cossins at the University of Bath, clocked 20.45secs in a final dominated by Jamaican trio Rasheed Dwyer (20.14), Warren Weir (20.26) and Jason Livermore (20.32).

Talbot had mixed emotions afterwards but said he is determined to learn lessons from the experience ahead of the European Championships in Zurich later this month.

"To be honest I go into every race wanting to win," he told the BBC. "I probably didn't execute the race like I should have, I don't really know what went wrong.

"I think I've learned a lot about how to handle myself against these big names but you come into a championships wanting to do your best. I wasn't far off it but I need to start moving on from these 20.4s and start getting down into the low 20s to be competitive.

"I don't think I'm that far off. I've ran between 20.36 and 20.47 six times this year, so the consistent base is there. I just need maybe one race where it all clicks and that will give me a massive confidence boost."

Talbot has one more shot at a Glasgow 2014 medal when he lines up for England in the 4x100m relay, with the heats taking place on Friday evening and the final on Saturday.
