Megan Fletcher struck judo gold for England after claiming victory over New Zealand's Moira de Villers in the women's under-70kg class.
Fletcher, who trains at the University of Bath, scored an Ippon in the final at the SECC.
Fellow Bath judoka Tom Reed was unable to make it a golden double, however, as he was beaten by countryman Owen Livesey in the men's under-81kg class final.
Fletcher, 24, had earlier recovered from a face injury to book her place in the final, defeating Scotland's Sally Conway in the last four.
Fletcher told the BBC: "I can't believe it. It's been an absolutely amazing day.
"I managed to beat the Great Britain number one in the semi-final, which is the first time I've ever beaten her.
"That for me was such an amazing achievement and to then go on and win gold, I couldn't really have asked for anything better today.
"It means a lot to my family and I want to say thank-you to them for everything they've done."
Wiltshire-born Reed was just unable to match Fletcher's feats as he had to settle for silver after falling to a Penalty defeat.
Reed said: "I don't know what happened. It went down to the wire. Fair play to him. It was always going to be a tactical fight and come down to the smallest thing. That's judo. You train for six years, and to get a silver - at least I've got something."
