Director of football Adie Britton hopes to make the most of better playing conditions when Bath City travel to Concord Rangers on the opening day of the new Conference South season.
City's last competitive outing was also against the Beach Boys on the final day of the 2013-14 campaign. They edged to a 2-0 victory in late April despite being faced with a heavily worn surface after a long, hard season.
And Britton and first-team coach Lee Howells hope their side will able to strut their stuff to full affect when they again make the 350-mile round trip to Thames Road in Canvey Island for the curtain raiser on Saturday, August 9.
Britton said: "When I heard the fixtures on Friday it wasn't the ideal game to have first up as it's such a long way to travel.
"But I had a long chat with Lee about it on Saturday and we both agreed that the best time to go there was early in the season.
"There will be a lot more grass on the pitch and that should help the way we want to play.
"When we went there last year it was the last game of the season and the conditions weren't ideal. Hopefully playing them at this stage this time will be better for us."
Basingstoke Town and Chelmsford City will visit Twerton Park before the end of the first week on Tuesday, August 12 and Saturday, August 16 respectively.
City are likely to have an early Saturday off as cash-strapped Salisbury City have been expelled from the Conference. Britton's side were scheduled to travel to take on the Whites on August 23.
The traditional Weston-super-Mare festive double header remains in place and City will wrap up their regular season with a trip to Staines Town.
