Female pupils at Norton Hill School will be taking a look at the softer side of cycling on Tuesday, July 15.
Thanks to Lush stores which are taking part in the Beauty and the Bike project, the girls will get the opportunity to make their own health and beauty products, followed by a session with Sustrans officer 'Active' Aly Vernon discussing the health benefits of cycling.
The group will look at the short and long term health impacts of cycling, from calories consumed to reduced risk of heart disease in later life. Beauty and the Bike was developed to help address the low numbers of females who cycle in secondary schools.
The session forms part of Bath and North East Somerset Council's Active Travel to School Project – running at four secondary schools throughout the district – highlighting the positive reasons for walking, cycling and using public transport.
The project is funded by the Department for Transport through the Local Sustainable Transport Fund.
