One of the best views in Bath has been celebrated with the installation of a new topograph.
The National Trust's Prior Park Landscape Garden now displays the topograph alongside five new information boards to point out the main buildings and areas of interest.
Work over the last 18 months also includes a new welcome leaflet and new visitor reception building graphics, all designed by Bath-based Icehouse Design.
Head gardener Matthew Ward said: "We wanted to present the history of the garden to our visitors in an attractive way.
"We have had lots of good feedback from visitors about the new boards. They are really getting a good idea about how the garden came about."
The gardens were originally designed by local entrepreneur Ralph Allen, with help from Capability Brown and poet and garden designer Alexander Pope, in the 18th century.
Mr Ward added: "We chose quite a modern style to contrast with the historic garden. The stories we chose to tell were mostly about features which have been lost over the years but we hope to restore."
"It'd be great to get the grotto back as well as a gothic temple and thatched house which also once existed."
The new interpretation was added as part of criteria to enable Prior Park Landscape Garden to win gold for the Best Small Visitor Attraction 2014 at the Bath Events, Hospitality and Tourism Awards.
Visitor experience manager Nick Melling said: "We are really thrilled to win this prodigious award and to showcase all the hard work that our staff and volunteers do to make this garden a really special place.
"Our visitor numbers are growing every year and it's great that we are now getting more and more people discover Prior Park for the first time."
This year the gardens are not only celebrating their 21st birthday with the National Trust, but also the 300th anniversary of the start of the Georgian period and the 250th anniversary of Ralph Allen's death.
