Talented pupils from a Bath theatre school will be channelling their inner-gangster as they take to the stage to perform Guys and Dolls.

The Broadway classic is being brought to the city by the Bath Theatre School and will be performed by a cast of 50 local youngsters.

Principal Tom Bright said: "Guys and Dolls is a wonderfully colourful and comical musical for all the family, in which our students get the chance to dress up and portray very unique, endearing and often funny characters.

"Rehearsals have been hugely enjoyable for students and teachers alike and we can't wait until show week."

Bath Theatre School, although only in its second year, has proved popular with young thespians in the city and is the only school in the area to offer national recognised exams from Trinity College London and give its pupils the chance to star in professionally staged productions.

Tony and Olivier award winning Guys and Dolls was created for stage by producers Cy Feuer and Ernest Martin with music by Frank Loesser, and first premiered on Broadway in 1950.

The well-loved musical focuses on the lives of gangsters, gamblers and other characters in the 1920s New York underworld.

Performances are on July 18 and 19 at the Kingswood Theatre. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.baththeatreschool.com
