Macmillan Cancer Trust has once again been bowled over by the generosity of local folk who turned out at North Parade to watch Bath CC take on a team of Bath Rugby Legends in a charity T20 match.
More than £1,000 was raised in bucket collections and bat raffles alone on Wednesday - and sponsorship is still coming in from the players who took part in the annual contest.
Among them was current Bath Rugby player Matt Garvey, who captained the Legends team after Ross Batty had to drop out at the last minute.
And Garvey (3-13) showed his all-round sporting skills by removing James Campbell with a stunning catch off his own bowling before sending Tom Stayt's bails flying.
Andy Beattie also took 3-9 and former England skipper Lewis Moody impressed with the ball but Kate Randall's 29 and some big hitting from Bath's tail-enders saved the cricketers' blushes as they closed on 119.
Matt Banahan (14) unleashed a huge boundary early in the Legends' reply but tumbling wickets ensured the game remained in the balance.
Schoolboy cricketer Ed Horler, brought in at short notice to help the Legends, scored 49 not out and was well supported by Dan Hipkiss, Kane Palma-Newport and Carl Fearns as the rugby stars closed in on victory.
And it was that man Garvey who eventually wrapped things up, sealing an exciting win from the penultimate ball of the game.
