A group of disabled and disadvantaged youngsters from Bath have enjoyed a day out to Longleat Safari Park thanks to a student fundraising drive.

The 15 children from Bath Gateway Out and About, which is run by Mencap, were taken on the trip by University of Bath students Rasesh Seth, Miloni Shah, Pooja Penna, Atif Raja, Suveer Bhatia, Jade Brindley, Brinda Singh and Anupi Chiniwala.

It was made possible thanks to donations from local businesses and people, including the Bath Bakery, Green Park Sainsbury's, Boots, Marks & Spencer and Peter Swift.

Mr Seth, 21, said everyone had enjoyed the day out: "We managed to raise £600, which meant we could take everybody who wanted to go.

"They all loved it. It was a dream for them to go there."

Becky Morgan, who runs the Gateway group, thanked everyone who had donated money and the students for organising the trip.

She said: "All of the members of Bath Gateway Out and About really did have a most wonderful time at Longleat."
