One of Bath's keenest gardeners has died at the age of 91.
Retired Stothert and Pitt worker Bert Kellaway brightened up Combe Down with hundreds of plants in the garden of his home.
He and his late wife Janet regularly won Bath in Bloom certificates for their floral efforts, and he had been chairman of the Claverton and District Horticultural Society and treasurer of the Bath and District Horticultural Society.
Mr Kellaway had travelled the world erecting cranes for Stothert and Pitt before retiring in 1986.
He leaves a daughter, grandson, granddaughter and six great- granddaughters.
His family said: "The mountain of sympathy cards received describe him variously as a real character, a devoted family man and a witty gent, but most of the village will remember him for his gardening. Bradford Road simply will not be the same without him."
His funeral will take place tomorrow at 2pm at Holy Trinity Church in Combe Down.
