The annual Widcombe Art Trail displayed some of the best talent Bath has to offer as artists showcased their work over the weekend.

The trail exhibited work from 57 local artists across 15 venues, including The White Hart, Ring O' Bells, Violet Bank Farm, St Matthew's Church and St Mark's Community Centre, as well as private houses.

People were able to go along and admire the work by local artists, including paintings, prints, jewellery, textiles and sculptures.

Exhibitors included botanical painter Julia Trickey, who demonstrated her detailed watercolours of fading flowers, autumnal leaves and seed-heads.

A multiple gold medal award-winner at the Royal Horticultural Society, four of Julia's flower illustrations have been made into Royal Mail stamps.

There were many more creative individuals across the venue including the trail's oldest artist, 87-year-old David Hampton, whose painting "Menton, Cote d'Azure" won the St Cuthbert's Mill Watercolour Prize at last year's Bath Society of Artists awards.

There were opportunities for visitors to get involved, with embroidery technique workshops from Eloise Scotland, dye printing and drawing tools with Jane Sargeant, and jewellery-making demonstrations with Sarah McCurdie.

There were also fun workshops for children, and passports which could be stamped at each venue.

Artist Catherine Beale said the trail this year has been very busy and very successful.

She said: "It's been excellent, we've had a lovely mixture of local people and visitors.

"It definitely gives the community a sense of itself, local links run through all the art venues. It's an opportunity for local artists to advertise their work in their own environment, which is really nice."

The trail, run by the Widcombe Association and sponsored by Knight Frank, is now in its eighth year.

As well as showcasing and celebrating local talent, it gives people an opportunity to explore and appreciate all Widcombe has to offer.
