Former Bath student and the man behind some of the country's best loved musicals remains the third richest Briton in the music industry.
Cats producer Cameron Mackintosh, who once attended Prior Park College and lives near Wincanton in Somerset, has a personal fortune of £1 billion, according to the latest Sunday Times Rich List for the music industry, which will be published this weekend.
The list is topped by owner of the Warner Music Group Len Blavatnik who has a personal wealth of £10 billion. Clive Calder, founder of the Zomba Group, is ranked second with a personal wealth of £1.4 billion.
Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, who lives at Corsham, is ranked joint 44 with his personal fortune of £70 million. He holds the position along with Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knopfler, The Who's Pete Townshend and music producer Chris Wright.
The list also revealed the combined wealth of the five members of One Direction is £70 million, making the group the richest boy band in history from Britain and Ireland. Niall Horan, 20, Zayn Malik, 21, Liam Payne, 20, Harry Styles 20, and Louis Tomlinson, 22, are each worth £14 million. In 2013, the combined fortune of the band was just £25 million, with each member worth £5 million.
Music mogul Simon Cowell, worth £300 million, keeps his spot at number eight. His contracts for ITV's X Factor and Britain's Got Talent have helped to boost his fortune by £50 million in a year.
